Twenty-seven garden club members visited Ever Rest (the former home of Jasper Cropsey) as well as the Gallery. Both were filled with his paintings. It is very unusual to have the artist’s home, furnishings and paintings all together. Although the day was cloudy and rainy everyone enjoyed the visit. We also viewed two lovely gardens. One is located outside of the Gallery and the other on grounds surrounding Ever Rest. Following the visit, we went to lunch at Maud’s which is also in Hastings-on-Hudson. After lunch we went to the Hastings-on-Hudson Historical Society which was founded by our member Florence. The very first photograph of the moon was on display; the photo was taken from the observatory which was on this site.
